The eyes are the windows of the soul. If a person's attention to drugs is longer than 97 seconds, this person is most likely a drug addict.
The Shanghai Drug Rehabilitation Bureau introduced the infrared vision tracking system into the VR system, that is, installing a camera on the VR glasses to capture the eye movement characteristics of the drug addicts, including the trajectory of the eye movement and the dwell time. "If he stays in a place for a long time, he is interested in this object."
The R&D team collected thousands of samples and compared data between drug addicts and college students. The data showed that drug addicts had the longest watch time for drugs, 97 seconds, 58 seconds for non-objects, and 24 seconds for non-drugs. College students’ attention to drugs is only 39 seconds, the longest time for non-objects is 123 seconds, and the duration of non-drugs is 17 seconds.
The combination of infrared visual tracking system and VR was the first in the country, and the device applied for three patents.
In addition to assessing drug addiction, VR technology can also provide aversion to treatment, desensitization, and social rehabilitation.
Aversive therapy is a method of conditioned reflex that combines the target behavior that needs to be withdrawn with unpleasant or punitive stimuli, through aversive conditional reflexes to dissect the attractiveness of the target behavior to the patient and cause the symptoms to subside. "Just like you originally liked to eat apples, but you bite down and saw a bug. If you bite the bug every time, you don't like to eat apples." Zhang Chaojing understands this.
In aversion treatment, detoxification personnel will use VR glasses to observe the human skin lesions caused by drugs such as herpes left by drugs, tooth loss, and deformation of limbs. 15 minutes of treatment time, realistic heavy-duty video pictures make some people can't help but close their eyes.
Desensitization therapy, also known as exposure therapy, exposes the sensitivity of drug users to drugs. "Drug addicts see powdery objects such as rock sugar and powdery objects such as flour, which are associated with drug abuse memories. If you keep watching this scene, you can reduce their sensitivity to drugs." Zhang Chaojing said.
In desensitization treatment, detoxification personnel will see a warmly arranged home scene after wearing VR glasses. There is a table in front of them. When there are "curling", lighter, tin foil, cigarettes and other objects on the table, the "home" refrigerator, TV and other furniture appliances will be reduced accordingly, and eventually become a family. Then, a virtual hammer appeared on the screen. The drug addicts manipulated the handles and destroyed the drugs and utensils on the table in the "explosive" music. The original "home" came back.
Virtual reality gives them a real feeling. “Desensitization therapy is interactive, prompting drug addicts to actively participate in this process.” Xu Ding explained that this is one of the advantages of VR technology.
"I didn't miss the feeling of drugs." Qian Mou, a drug addict who was about to go out in September this year, had a VR desensitization training. "The picture that I saw on my glasses is a bit of a virtual world. It’s really not true, it’s not fake, right. I don't think there is anything special. After all, I have been forced to take drugs for two years, and the drug addiction has slowly passed, so I stopped thinking about drug use.
